He crawls through the snow in the dark of night. His breathing is shallow in hopes that no one will spot him. He avoids the search lights as best he can, but he still hasn’t mastered the art of crawling through foot after foot of snow without making loud crunching sounds. Suddenly a bright light flashes over him and he hears an exclamation ring out through the forest, “Oh, Attila! Not again!” Meanwhile, struggling to make it back to the safety of Friendship cabin, Jackie pulls herself through the mounds of snow with the last bit of her strength, searching for the cleared path that would relieve her exhaustion. But while the Victoria kids are picked off one by one from exhaustion and the inability to adapt to their new environment, the Prince George kids are nestled under blankets of snow waiting for their chance to make a run for it. To reach the tower and claim victory. A victory relished by few. It’s a mission so impossible that not more than 5 people have ever achieved it. And no one has completed this mission in the snow. Are you going to be the one to win? Will you do what it takes? Bury yourself under the snow, sitting, silently for the snipers to pass so you can make your glorifying run? Come to snow camp and find out!

Clear Winter Nights

On December 31st 2008 around 6:15pm the Moon and Venus lined up right over top of Friendship cabin. It was one of the clearest winter nights I’ve ever seen out there.

Adam brought his telescope, so we aimed it at the moon to take a look. Venus is so reflective that it’s almost a mirror, so looking at Venus is more like looking at a reflection of the sun.

Camp Morice is a place for spontaneity. It’s a place where you can find campers passing the time by singing the Beatles, where impromptu “practice” dances break out, and where Disney songs can and will be sung from balconies. At Camp, you need to watch how you treat the resident Hobbits, or you might just wake up with nothing but swim shorts to your name, and you had better brush up on your Electric and Cha Cha Slides if you want to keep up. It’s a place where planned events are put on hold just so everyone can go outside and watch yet another breathtaking sunset – because no matter how many you see, each one is even more beautiful. At Camp Morice, sometimes there is no answer to the big question: “What now?” But even if you don’t know what’s coming next, there’s no doubt that it will end with amazing, spur-of-the-moment memories and lasting friends to share them with.

Never Has Tackle Football Been So Intense

Tackle football in the snow is one of the highlights of snow camp. Pretty much everyone gets involved. Imagine tromping through the shin-high snow, running with all your might, trying to stay away from the hoard of campers chasing you…looking for that teammate to pass to and then being thrown down to the ground into a foot of fluffy snow as your opponent tackles you. Never has tackle football been so intense…and never have the tackles been so forgiving.

Booking Manager Needed

Booking Manager

Camp Morice Employment Opportunity: we are looking for someone to take care of Camp Bookings. The job entails responding to all emails and phone messages for usage of the Camp, maintaining the Schedule of the Camp Bookings, preparing all invoices and collecting payments.

Required are skills in computer environments, invoicing and banking procedures, and communication competence. Remuneration is $200/month.

The three areas of service are:

Responding to emails and phone messages: The Camp Morice Society has a website that people can submit requests and a phone number that people can call. We expect the applicant to respond to requests in a timely fashion.
Responding to scheduling the Camp: Our scheduling is done via an online calendar, so the applicant will be required to insert all bookings into the calendar so that the bookings are viewable by board members.
Responding to invoicing, receiving payments and issuing receipts (basic book-keeping skills would be an asset.)
